Snowpack Observations

HS generally in the 220-260cm range above 9,000′. Ski pen 15cm. Boot pen 30-60cm depending on aspect. Dug a couple pits and found good snow structure in the upper meter+ of the pack, with the notable exception of a melt freeze/facets combo at the new/old interface down 80cm that was reactive to stability tests. No cracking or collapsing observed. Some sluffing.

Pit #1: SW, 9700′, 20* slope (Girly Turns): HS 215cm, ECTP22 SC below Feb 6 melt/freeze @ 80cm

Pit #2: ENE, 9300′ (New Years Bowl): HS 230cm, ECTN @ 60cm in storm snow, CT20 RP @ 70cm in storm snow, CT21 & CT22 SP @ 80cm on facet layer below melt freeze crust.

Riding Quality

Skiing was excellent across all aspects on a supportable base with boot top champagne. Low angle was skiing great due to fast surface snow. Sluffing on steep slopes.
